FAMILY PLANNING ASSOC. OF MAINE

Founded more than 30 years ago, the Family Planning Association of Maine provides a wide range of health and social services to Maine women and teens, including:
  • Comprehensive reproductive health services to 6,000 women in a four-county area and, through contracts with other organizations, to an additional 26,000 women and teens in every other county in the state;
  • First trimester abortion services;
  • Training of physicians and residents interested in learning abortion services;
  • Comprehensive family life education for more than 14,000 students annually; and
  • A specially designed clinical and educational program for teen males.
In addition, the Association is the only organization in the state to have a full-time lobbyist defending reproductive rights in the Maine statehouse and in Washington, D.C. and is among the very few organizations of its type to have created a separately incorporated political action program, known as the Family Planning Action Fund of Maine.

The Family Planning Association of Maine is a private, not-for-profit organization.
